Juliana Rigol
It may come as a surprise that Juliana has not been making art her entire adult life. She holds a Master’s, PhD, and postdoctoral degree in Nursing and spent eight years working in obstetrical care in Brazil. That rich professional experience deeply informs her artistic practice, which is rooted in the female body and feminist philosophy.
While the works shown here are primarily paintings, Juliana is also a gifted writer. For those who understand Portuguese, her podcast “Lilith e a Língua” offers a taste of her literary voice. The episodes are brief, yet, much like her paintings, they reveal remarkable depth and insight.
ARTIST STATEMENT
“Painting represents freedom. Subversion. Daring. Expands consciousness. Awakes sensorial perception and invites bodily presence. Its practice transforms and regenerates.”
